The curriculum involves 750 hours to satisfy Texas state requirements. The course includes extensive instruction and practical experience in facials, hair removal, makeup application, customer service, personal appearance and hygiene, personal motivation and development, retail skills, client record keeping, business ethics, state laws and regulations, salon-type administration, and job interviewing.
*Students are prepared to be an entry level esthetician.
ESTHETICS COURSE OVERVIEW
Course Hours: 750 clock hours
The course is divided into pre-clinical classroom instruction and clinical service learning experiences.
- Pre-clinical Classroom Instruction: This phase is devoted to classroom workshops, demonstrations, and practicalexperiences where students learn esthetics principles, technical information, safety and sanitation, and professional practices.
- Clinic Learning Experience: Students transition into the clinic classroom, where practical experience is gainedthrough supervised guest services. During this phase, students develop technical proficiency, professionalism, guest service skills, and confidence through hands-on learning experiences.
ESTHETICS COURSE OUTLINE
The Esthetics program at Paul Mitchell The School Dallas, Paul Mitchell The School Dallas - San Antonio, and Paul Mitchell The School Dallas - Arlington is divided into two educational designations:
- Core Curriculum: The Core Curriculum provides the foundational principles of esthetics through classroom instruction, demonstrations, and hands-on learning experiences. Students receive individual attention duringpractical workshops and are evaluated through practical exercises, written assessments, and periodic evaluations designed to monitor student progress. This phase establishes the technical knowledge, professional practices, and foundational skills necessary for success in the clinic classroom.
- Mentor Learning Experience: The Mentor Learning Experience provides students with supervised clinic classroomexperiences where they continue developing technical and therapeutic abilities while providing services to paying guests under Learning Leader supervision. Students strengthen professionalism, guest service, communication,consultation, and relationship-building skills while gaining practical experience that prepares them for successful careers in the esthetics industry.
ESTHETICS COURSE REQUIREMENTS
The instructional program meets or exceeds these requirements:

The institution offers employment assistance to help graduates’ efforts to secure education-related employment that includes, but is not limited to training in professionalism, resume’ development, job interview preparation and job search skills.
ESTHETICS PROGRAM TESTING AND GRADING PROCEDURES
The following tests and grading procedures are incorporated during the student’s 750-hour course:
- Theory exams: Students must receive a grade of 70% or higher on each assigned theory exam.
- Core written and practical skills evaluation: Students must receive a grade of 70% or higher on each written exam and each practical skill exam in order to complete the Core program. The exams are an overview of instruction taught during the Core schedule. All Core written and practical skill exams must be passed with a 70% in order to transition to the Clinic Classroom. If students are unable to pass each exam after two attempts, the student may be asked to withdraw from the program and re-enroll in the next available Core class start date.
- Final exam: This test covers an overview of all related esthetics subjects (e.g., anatomy, chemistry, etc.). Students must receive a grade of 70% or higher on all final exams.
- Clinic practical worksheets: Students must complete all assigned practical clinic classroom worksheets.
